A town and beach resort situated to the north of the city of Alicante, El Campello is a bustling resort with a busy harbour and fish market. Attracting plenty of sun worshippers predominantly during the summer season of July and August, El Campello is a well loved holiday resort with fine beaches and good access to nearby places to visit.

History of El Campello: The history of El Campello goes back a lot of centuries and goes back to before the Roman occupation of the Iberian Peninsular, with the "La Isleta" remains next to the harbour dates back some five thousand years, there are also some remaining signs of the Roman years when they erected fish factories in the town. The historic tower dates back to the 16th century, and was erected to warn inhabitants of attacks by Barbary pirates, common in this part of Spain at that time.

A busy time for the town is during October, when its renowned Moors and Christians festival is held, there are firework displays, mock battles and parades and the local people dress up in splendid and elaborate costumes.

El Campello Beaches: El Campello Beach is a fine sand beach with a paseo lining it, it is a big beach with lots of room for everyone to bask in the sunshine. Aside from the main beach, there are a variety of other coves and bays which you can try out and get away from the bulk of the holidaymakers.
